144th Fighter Wing ANG Fresno Air Terminal, California F-16A/B ADF, C-26A 194th Fighter Squadron

The 194th FS is the wing's operational unit and has had the F-16A ADF assigned since October 1989. The unit was established as the 194th Fighter Squadron in March 1949 at Hayward MAP with F-51Ds. Redesignated 194th FIS with the F-86A assigned in October 1954, the squadron moved to Frenso Air Terminal. The 144th FIG formed in April 1956. The unit converted to the F-86L in mid-1958, the F-102A in late 1964, and the F-106A in mid-1974. The squadron won the F-106A catagory at the 1980 William Tell competition. The 144th FIG upgraded to Wing standard in July 1976. The squadron re-equipped with the F-4D in 1984 before switching to F-16A.
